A: 4G is not going anywhere anytime soon. 3G started in 2002 and is still active today, and 4G is currently planned to be used for at least another decade. Sources indicate that 4G will be serviced through 2030.
A: In the small ticket market — specifically vending — EMV Chip will not be a required method of payment since consumers are choosing contactless methods of payment. EMV contactless “tap” should be all you need to support the card brands and your consumers’ move to EMV.

A: Many 4G LTE ePort devices received an “over the air” upgrade to accept EMV tap in February/March 2020. Customers can easily view their 2G/3G devices in the field, by logging into Seed Live or Seed and running a “Device Details Report”. This report will show what devices are 2G/3G and which ones are connected to an EMV-enabled card reader.
